Seriously, tell me. I just read in The Tribune today that the FAA closed Abaco’s Airport to US flights because of inadequate fire services.
A recent report on radio suggests that the men’s urinal for that same airport was recently out of service for over a month. Tourists had to tow a line to use the only functioning urinal at the airport.
Add this latest incident to the numerous power outages that have plagued the island, the tourism industry there could suffer irreparable damage. The thing that gets me is these problems would not become major issues if the government was even a little bit organized and halfway competent. And before the pundits start playing the blame game; this incompetence is not new. Its not FNM or PLP. It just seems systemic to government run organizations.
Just pick anything at random that involves government and you will find anywhere from a little to gross incompetence; Bahamas Customs, Royal Bahamas Police Force, BEC, BTC, Water&Sewage;, Imigration, any government Agency really.
So whats the problem? Why is it so hard for them to get even the basics right?
