It is apparent to all but the most ardent sheep… um supporters, that we have been getting the short end of the stick when it comes to political representation.
But then again, maybe it isn’t that apparent as some people just don’t know any better. Take my word, You have been getting shafted by the people who are supposed to be representing you.
How can I say that and I don’t even know you? Just a wild guess.
But let’s try to prove it. Ask yourself the following questions;
When was the last time you saw your representative? in person not on TV. Even if you didn’t see him personally, when was the last time he/she was in your community?
Its election season, so you might have seen them recently, so how long since you saw him/her previously?
What has your representative done in your community or constituency over the last 4 years?
What initiatives have they started? Who have they helped?
I’m not talking about fixing the roads or cleaning up the park either.
How has your community been improved as a result of his or her representation?
Ok, that’s what I thought! Your representative sucked!
This is typical of most political representatives in the Bahamas, regardless of political party.
I was listening to a radio talk show the other day when the host made an interesting comment, he said (I’m paraphrasing)
“you round here jumping up and down during election time talking bout “we” this and “we” that when you aint win nothing! you might as well be chairing for the Lakers as much as you get when these fellas win. Cause all you get is a good feeling and bragging rights and these fellas set for life”
lol, that’s one of those quotes that’s funny but true. Was he talking about you?
It’s important that you think seriously about what it means to select someone to represent you. Its obvious or should be that we need better representation. Who you decide to support and why will determine the representation you get, and like they say, “what you get is what you deserve”.
