Read Reality Check Pt 1
Things are tough. Jobs are scarce. The economy is in the gutter. Cost of living is through the roof. Time to stop digging in ya boongie and get serious.
If you want to get a job you have to stand out. You have to bring something to the table. You are competing with at least 20,000 other persons for the same couple jobs. What are you going to do?
What you first have to do is change your attitude and approach.
Lets take the young lady from bodie’s show, here what she said again
I can do anything, I just want to work. I work in sales, clothing stores, hair salons etc
Now suppose she had said this instead;
I’ve worked in sales, at clothing stores, salons etc. but Mr. Bodie, I come to work on time, I’m willing to work hard and I’m a quick learner.
Which one of these persons would you consider hiring? I’d guess the latter. These are just words, but these words show a different mindset and approach that employers like.
Now understand, I’m not giving you some magic trick that will get you a job. I’m suggesting you not only say these things but actually mean them.
While you’re unemployed don’t just sit down home watching tv (bad girls club, kardashians are not good for you and they aint putting money in your pocket), talking with friends and browsing Facebook. Actually use that time to develop some qualities that will make you more employable in the future.
- Learn how to present yourself
- Learn how to properly prepare your resume
- Prepare for being interviewed
- Get an Attitude adjustment
- Learn customer service
- Understand what your employer values most in employees
- Develop work ethic
- Learn to wake up early
All of these can be learned online by searching google. It won’t cost you a dime other than your time.
An additional point on “Get an Attitude Adjustment“: You need to understand that when someone hires you, you have to bring value to the business. If you don’t bring value, you’re probably costing the business customers and directly affecting your own employment.
Don’t bring an attitude to the company’s clients. Customers complain, it’s not against you personally. In their eyes You are t he company. So don’t take it personally. Bring great customer service every day, breathe it, live it!
Don’t get into drama with your co-workers, remember you are just there to work not make friends. Keep them out of your personal life and stay professional at all times.
Don’t get into drama with your boss.
Truth is some bosses suck! But suck it up and remember why you are there. Remember why you are there, what you are working for. Build a reputation as a great employee while you search for another job. Suck it up until you can do better. Quit gracefully and don’t burn any bridges.
I believe if you make these adjustments you are more likely to find a job than not.
