When I first started working, I had a job where I regularly worked from 12N to 12 midnight and sometimes later… the overtime paycheck was glorious!
Eventually though, the company upgraded their processes and the technology. They also instituted a strict no overtime policy.
The glory days were over. Today its next to impossible for employees in that same job to get overtime and a shift system is the norm.
No company can survive with high overtime. Constant overtime means that there is inefficiency somewhere.
- your employees are not trained properly
- you don’t have enough employees
- your technology and processes are outdated
The Government needs to figure out which problem they have and fix it, because obviously the levels of overtime at BEC and I suspect other government corporations is unsustainable.
What are your thoughts on the BEC overtime situation?
