On March 20th, 2015 the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) held a hearing over the government’s immigration policy following allegations of human rights violations.
The petitioners in the hearing, the GBHRA, led by attorney Fred Smith, QC, said the policy is unconstitutional and has led to thousands of Haitian migrants having their human rights abused.
The Government was represented by Minister of State For Legal Affairs Damian Gomez at the hearing in Washington DC.
