The sale of BTC to UK telecoms giant Cable and Wireless will probably be recorded as one of the most controversial deals in Bahamian history second only to the Baha Mar deal.
It has stirred deep emotions in Bahamians who feel it is a bad business deal and a bad deal for The Bahamas.
And as with everything in The Bahamas it has taken on political overtones. The FNM Government and its supporters claim that the protest over this sale has been generated largely by The PLP.
I have to admit that it seems that many of the persons protesting and making the most noise are indeed PLPs. However, I believe there are many persons who are not PLP who also feel strongly about this sale… I am one.
Unfortunately, because of these political overtones many persons have decided to support the sale or oppose the sale based solely on party affiliation. Whether you are for or against the sale my advice to you in do your research and find out the facts for yourself.

VIDEO of the Protest against the Sale of BTC
Pretty good video, despite the fact that it is the PLP trying to capitalize on the protest. Note that despite the Government trying to classify the protest as a PLP lead even, you will notice only a hand full of people wearing political attire and PLP MPs participating as onlookers.
Return here for pictures and video of the next protest scheduled for March 21st when parliament resumes….
